Perched on the historic waterways of Kelham Island Sheffield, The Chimney House is the location for joyous feasting celebrations of friends and family togetherness for up to 50 guests.

Fall in love with a Chimney House wedding. The flicker of candlelight, the bubbles of champers, we plan, arrange, style and host fabulous parties with a difference; perfect dining experiences and the most glorious celebrations imaginable!

We are worldwide famous for our love of feasting - perfectly social, exceptionally delicious and always abundant! Get caught up in our joy and revel in the delight of having your event planned to perfection. We will host your guests in the ambiently beautiful surrounds of our historic building amongst antiquities and curiosities.

The Chimney House is also licensed for Marriages and Civil Partnerships for up to 50 guests. Book your ceremony at The Chimney House and choose between The Chimney House or our sister venue The Mowbray for your wedding reception for a perfect day curated just for you with effortless style and ease.

We are delighted to be awarded in the prestigious UK Wedding Awards for ‘Best City Wedding Venue’ in the 2019 and in 2020 for The Best Historic Wedding Venue in the UK for 2020. 

 

A Note on our Menus

All of our menus are prepared in-house by our amazing chef team! Everything is baked and made fresh from our bread, cakes, cookies and desserts and we pickle, cure, roast and toast the finest ingredients from Sheffield and Yorkshire. 

We work 100% seasonally so sometimes we will need to change ingredients out for what is best and fresh - we’ll let you know if we need to tweak your chosen menu ahead of your event. We can cater for all dietary requirements - just let us know and we’ll make it happen! If you’d rather discuss a bespoke menu tailored to your event theme and guests - then we’d love to discuss that with you!

Wedding Reception Hire Only - 2024/25

Wedding Hire of The Chimney House for your reception on any Saturday in 2024/25 is £1000 plus VAT for four hours. Weekday hire for your reception in 2024/25 is £800 plus VAT for four hours. Your menu choice is an additional price per head and extra hours over four hours is charged at £150 plus VAT per hour. Menu prices subject to change

Wedding Ceremony - Hire Only - 2024/25

The Chimney House is licensed for Marriages and Civil Partnerships for up to 50 guests. The ceremony hire is for two hours and is £800 plus VAT on a weekday and £1000 plus VAT on any Saturday.

Book your Wedding Ceremony and Wedding Feast at The Chimney House for 50 guests and Party at The Mowbray for up to 250 guests. Price on request. 

Option Two
Book your Wedding Ceremony at The Chimney House for 50 guests and head around the corner for a magnificent Wedding Feast at The Mowbray for 50 plus guests. Feel free to invite additional guests to The Feast (up to 150 if you like) and to your evening Party celebrations up to 250 guests.

Each Chimney House Wedding Cake is magical. Freshly made 'on the day' in The Mowbray’s Kitchen it is a light as a dream ‘special recipe’ Victoria with layers of buttercream, delicious jam and indulgently divine. Our wedding cake is elegantly luxurious with a real Sheffield touch! We’ll even dress your cake with perfectly picked florals from one of our house florists for a wild gypsy hedgerow feel with cascades of romance and wanderlust.

Menu 1.3 the 'Grande Gusto' Upgrade - £52 per person (excluding vat) - £62.40 inc VAT

A resplendent feast with some of our favourite Italian & Mediterranean flavours. The feast starts with some tasty snacks & small plates and rolls straight into a delicious centre piece.

Menu 2 - HOUSE FEAST - £54 per person ex VAT - £64.80 inc VAT

Our House Feast is a representation of our favourite flavours from further afield - using local ingredients wherever possible and as more fresh produce comes available though the season. This menu is inspired by Argentine methods of cooking over the fire, with two hearty meat dishes to take centre stage on the table - a feast in every sense of the word!

ON THE TABLE

Cheddar & jalapeno cornbread (v, g)

Mowbray-made grilled flatbreads (v, ve, g)

Charred calcot & herb salsa (a tangy salsa with smoke & acidity from the burnt onions) (v, ve)

House made cremoso cheese (a soft cheese similar to ricotta) with fermented peppers (v)

These dishes will remain on the table as your mains are served!

THE MAIN EVENT

Derbyshire pork collar - seasoned with salmuera (a briny dressing that we brush the meat with as it grills). Dressed with chimichurri.

AND

British beef short rib - slowly braised with onions, dried chillies & prunes for sweetness 

For our vegetarian & vegan guests; Vegetable empanada, with chimichurri (v, ve, g)

SIDES TO SHARE

Ember roasted root vegetables with ‘Sardo’ style cheese - aged cow’s or sheep’s milk cheese (v)

‘Punched’ potatoes - British potatoes cooked over the fire - then smashed & roasted with wild garlic aioli (when available) (v)

Menu 3 - THE LADEN TABLE  - £60 per person ex VAT - £72 inc VAT

This is our signature menu and a real ‘food lovers’ Feast. The Laden Table  showcases the absolute best of the season. It includes some of our house made favourites and is by far our most popular menu and showcases what our chefs do best! It is an absolute treat for your guests - and epitomises a long lazy feast that goes so well with great guests and conversation! The Laden Table is also a complete feast for all of the senses as pretty as it is taste sensational! 

Early spring is often referred to as ‘the hungry gap’ - as the winter vegetables come to an end, but the new season produce is yet to start. This presents a challenge for the farmers (and our chefs!) - but is an opportunity to use the available produce as it comes & goes. Working with Organic North (based in Manchester) gives us access to organic farmers all over the UK & Europe. Depending on the weather (of course) there is an abundance of beautiful fish & shellfish available in our seas.

This menu is all about using the best produce we can get & creating unique menu for your event on the day - definitely the one for foodies! 

TO START

Mowbray-made rosemary & sea salt focaccia (v, ve, g)

Gordal picante olives (v, ve)

Beetroot with fermented Yorkshire rhubarb & ajo blanco (an almond & garlic sauce) (v, g, contains nuts)

We’ll usually create one fish based starter and a meat or vegetarian dish - let us know if you have a preference.

Sample starters: Mackerel, sardines or red mullet - marinated with garlic & parsley / Fresh salmon crudo - lightly cured & dressed fresh fennel, lemon & olive oil / Grilled padron peppers & alioli / Air dried ham with walnuts & manchego

THE MAIN EVENT 

Yorkshire hogget leg - cooked ‘kleftiko’ style on the bone, with charlotte potatoes, oregano & lemon

Hogget is lamb which has been left to graze & grow a few months longer - so the meat develops more flavour.

For our vegetarian & vegan guests: Feta, spinach & chickpea filo pie (v, g)

SIDES TO SHARE

Charred calcot onions with roast red peppers, sherry vinegar & olive oil (v, ve)

Butter beans & Yorkshire chorizo or homemade pancetta - with ajillo (garlic & parsley)

This is our current selection of seasonal puds at The Chimney House - we’re mighty proud of our puddings...They always offer the right touch of indulgence and occasion to any style of dining event!

Blackcurrant Beauty: Cocoa meringue with mascarpone & blackcurrants (v)

Dietaries & Allergies: Some of our desserts can be made without gluten, on request - please ask. If you have vegan guests, or those who do not eat dairy or egg, the kitchen will make them their own dessert which is similar to your choice of pudding. If you have guests attending who have a nut allergy, we would advise choosing desserts which do not contain nuts, due to the sharing style of our feasts. 

CHEESE COURSES

The Chimney House Cheese Plate - £10pp plus vat (Minimum number 30)

A selection of 4 of our Kitchen’s most prized cheeses - including an English cheddar, Yorkshire Blue, a fantastic Goat’s Cheese & French Brie or Camembert. Served with all of the essentials -  biscuits, grapes, chutney & fresh figs (if available). Cheeses will be portioned ready for easy snacking!

Creamy Yorkshire Blue with Toasted Walnuts & Wildflower Honey

A mild & creamy blue cheese, made from Yorkshire Cow’s Milk by the girls at Shepherd’s Purse in North Yorkshire.

Tunworth & Roasted Grapes

Hampshire’s answer to Camembert, and don’t tell the French, but we think it’s even better. This cheese is still lovingly made by hand and offers a long lasting sweet & nutty flavour. The roasted grapes help to cut through the richness.

Artisan goat’s cheese, hard sheep’s & quince jelly

We’ll choose a stunning creamy goat’s cheese such as Dorstone, Cenarth or Golden cross and a nutty Sheep’s cheese such as Berkswell or aged Manchego- paired with sweet yet sharp and floral quince jelly.

At The Mowbray and The Chimney House we do our best to cater for any allergies or dietary requirements. In order to do this we ask that you provide full and thorough information in advance of your event.

When compiling this information please ensure your guests provide accurate information about their dietary needs. We need to know whether it is a severe allergy, a medical requirement or a preference so that we can make suitable adjustments. We may not provide a similar alternative where it is a preference, unless this can be catered for within the menu (see 'Plain Food' below). We will presume any dietary information given is correct and take it at face value.

We’ve carefully curated a delicious wine and beer line up that matches our menus and makes life super easy for you. Simply pre-order with us when you confirm your final numbers and we’ll make sure that your wine and beer is served up perfectly for you to enjoy. We also have a selection of soft drinks.

The Good to Knows

Menus can be served seated for up to 50
Any of our menus can be served at a time to suit your big day
Menus and prices will change seasonally and are valid for 6 months from your first quote
Use of our speaker system for your tunes, plug and play from your iPad, laptop or phone (we have a noise restriction after 10.30pm due to our residential area)
We don’t have facilities for a DJ, or space for a band, we can’t move tables mid-event
We close at 11pm and ask that you respect our residential neighbours and leave The Chimney House quietly
We can cater to all dietary requirements
Allergen information is available for all menus
Guest numbers and dietary requirements are confirmed 7 days before your event
We prefer BACS payments.

Luxuriously complete - The Mowbray team are experts in making it all happen for larger wedding parties between 40 and 250 guests. We look after everything from venue styling, table settings, floral abundance, food and consultations, bespoke cocktails and carefully curated champagne, wines and beers to create weddings and parties with soul. 

Our ethos for over a decade at The Chimney House has been 'let us look after you' and this forms the foundation of The Mowbray. We encourage you to luxuriate in the knowledge that time and style are on your side and we will attend to the smallest of details with creativity, flair and an understanding of simple beauty, elegance and a sprinkle of glamour.
