Summer Meadows Supper Society!

Posted 5th August, 2016

Our Supper Society is a mysterious society dedicated to the curious consumption of food within the walls of The Chimney House. We use our Supper Society evenings as a chance to indulge in the loveliest parts of events and to let our imaginations run wild - we dream up suppers we'd love to be guests at...

These evenings are the only time individual seats can be booked to attend a dining event in The Chimney House. Our Societiers have no idea of their experience until they arrive on Kelham Island, and must be prepared to put themselves in our hands and be guided through an evening...

Taking inspiration from balmy summer nights on the magical Île de Ré, France, we designed our Summer Meadows Society to feel as if you were strolling through tiny French island villages, with meadows on one side and the Ocean on the other - total dreamy bliss!

Chris Harrison, our chef for the evening, was more than happy to indulge our foray into a hazy summer evening of eating. Chris has years of experience working in award winning and Michelin starred restaurants, under some of the world’s top chefs; including The Fat Duck under Heston Blumenthal, and The Hand & Flowers under Tom Kerridge. The perfect person to create our super secret dream menu!

Chris’ 6 course masterpiece included, amongst others, bloody mary oysters, the most tender ham hock braised for 8 hours (served with salt & vinegar crackling), lamb breast cooked sous vide for 36 hours with mint, rosemary and thyme, the most perfect rhubarb crumble & custard granita pick me up and macerated strawberries with shortbread made with lavender picked from his parents' garden (shhhhhhh! Don’t tell mum!)

We've had wonderful feedback... Ian says "fantastic night last night. Didn’t know what to expect, but we had a ball. And as for the concept of just talking to interesting people without having to push for business – revolutionary! We look forward to the next one."
