Sarah and Paul came to us trying to escape a big traditional expensive wedding with hundreds of guests... nailed it! They wanted to remember why they were getting married, and have their absolute nearest and dearest with them on their super special day. 

They were transported by vintage bus to Kelham for a beautifully intimate candlelit feast at The Chimney House, and plumping for our Laden Table menu, a feast they got! The starters included smoked fish, locally selected cured meats and chargrilled vegetables, with whole goats cheese baked in flaky pastry. They continued on to pin cushion of tender Leicester lamb slow roasted with garlic, rosemary and red wine, whole sides of salmon in parchment, baked with lemon, garlic and butter, baked aubergine with tomato and aged Wensleydale, golden bubbling potato and mushroom gratin and a selection of salads including toasted pearl barley with chilli, grilled Portobello mushrooms and tomato vinaigrette. All finished up with the perfect summer pud; Eton mess with early season fruits and curls of dark chocolate!

"From the moment we drove up to the Chimney House we knew we had made the right decision to have our wedding reception with you. It is such a unique venue; fantastic location, chic and quirky interiors, and the option to have a candlelit banquet. We had nothing to worry about once we had made the booking, other than trying to choose from the mouth watering menu of course! The day itself was more than we imagined. We had seen some wedding shoots from your previous clients but you have to be there on the day to really understand its charm. Although you took care of everything and styled the venue with your unique artefacts and flower arrangements, guests still commented that the venue was 'us', which was just the reaction we were hoping for. The food was fantastic and the banquet style really brought guests together. Staff were attentive without being on top of us and everything went as planned. Put it this way...we are already thinking of having a first anniversary dinner reunion with you!"
